What An Experience At The Maine Savings Amphitheater Is Like

Last year, world-famous singer/rapper Pitbull announced his Party After Dark tour with guest T-Pain. One of these shows was in Bangor, Maine, and I desperately wanted to go but did not have transportation or anyone to go with. Pitbull is one of my favorite artists, and his songs are some of my favorites to dance and pump myself up to, so I was slightly upset that I could not go. During summer break, he announced the American leg of his I’m Back tour with special guest Lil Jon, and one of these shows was at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine on August 31st. When I saw this, I knew I had to pounce on tickets (and by pounce, I mean my mother bought them for me, shout out to her)! She said that if I did not find anyone to go with before then, she would go. During the summer, I mentioned in passing to my best friend Brock if he wanted to go and he said yes, so we set up everything after that.
We stayed at the Queen City Inn in Brewer, Maine, which was only about a five to ten minute drive away from the venue. Check in was a very smooth process and the lady at check in was very nice and friendly. The hotel was also offering a free van shuttle to the venue, so we had to jump on that. We were not going to be picky about our hotel room specifically, since we’d be spending 90% of our time outside of the hotel. Me and Brock decided to have dinner at the Blue Sky Lounge, which was local to the hotel and very tasty, though the service was slightly subpar (they forgot my appetizer and did not realize until it was time to give us our checks, though I did not get charged for it).
Then, after all the anticipation, it was time to wait for the concert. We were able to get on the first van transport to the venue, and the drive was very smooth sailing. The van dropped us off at a designated van area around a five-minute walk from the Amphitheater. When we got there, the line was the most astronomical for any event I had ever seen (not unexpected). Even so, the line moved fairly quickly due to the great work of the Amphitheater usher staff. Once we got in, it was time to find concessions and merchandise. There were plenty of lines for both, so even though all areas were packed with people, we got everything very quickly and found our seats, which had an amazing view of the stage.
As for the performance, it was once in a lifetime. Both of the DJs that performed before Lil Jon and Pitbull put on a show, having amazing transitions between different songs that they would play, some of which you would not expect a DJ to play. For example, one of the first songs played was Blank Space by Taylor Swift. But the thing everyone came for was the main acts. Lil Jon opened for Pitbull, and he was so amazing that Brock even claimed that he was better than the main act (I disagree because I like Pitbull more, but I can see where he was coming from). Lil Jon did lots of remixes of popular pop and hip hop songs, the main ones of which were Travis Scott’s FEIN, Flo Rida and T-Pain’s Low, and even Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond (man of the people).
Eventually, it was time for Mr Worldwide, and he was electric. I was screaming throughout most of his performance (starting at literally the second song!), because I loved his music so much and he knew what he was doing. He had great transitions between all of his songs, throwing in heartwarming speeches that perfectly encapsulated the next song he was going to sing. The one that stands out to me is him being grateful for his hometown of Miami, Florida, and the work he is doing to build schools in impoverished areas near there. Overall, it was an amazing experience encompassing all details, and I encourage everyone to go to at least one concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater.
